Business tax debt finance, explained.

Start with the questions business owners ask us most.

Can I get a business loan to pay an ATO debt?

Some business lenders consider finance for ATO liabilities. Eligibility depends on cash flow, trading history, credit position, debt type and lender policy. Approval is not guaranteed, and the repayments must be sustainable.

Will an ATO debt loan be cheaper than a payment plan?

Not necessarily. Compare the ATO interest applicable to your balance with the loan’s interest, fees, term and total repayments. A lower instalment can come with a higher total cost.

Do I need property to qualify?

Some lenders consider applications without property security. Unsecured finance can still require a personal guarantee or security over business assets. Ask about the exact obligations before signing.

What if I have received a DPN or statutory demand?

Seek qualified legal advice immediately and contact your accountant. Deadlines matter. A loan application does not pause enforcement, and funding cannot be guaranteed within the notice period.

Will discussing my options affect my credit score?

Ask what assessment is proposed before you consent. An initial conversation is different from a formal lender application; credit checks and reporting practices depend on the process and lender.

Are you part of the Australian Taxation Office?

No. Tax Debt Financing is an independent finance website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the Australian Taxation Office.

General information only. Your accountant, lawyer and proposed lender can help you assess the details that apply to your business.
